The Neighborhood Story Banner Project- RE-CAP
SHE’s GG virtual unveiling of The Neighborhood Story Banner Project video is below. This project was funded through a Stockton Rush Bartol Foundation Teaching Artist Micro-Grant. This generous grant supports the project now and into 2022. Please enjoy the video below and stay tuned for banner locations so you can experience the project in person.
Background of The Project
The Neighborhood Story Banner Project documents the hyperlocal histories of neighborhoods as they change and in some cases disappear completely. Information banners will be exhibited in several neighborhoods across the city. Artwork, written text, and twenty images will be displayed on each banner. The images represent a story from the City of Brotherly Love. In addition, there will be posters distributed in each community that provides an opportunity for residents to draw, write or create an image that they feel captures the essence of their community OR a person, place, or thing that once existed in Philadelphia.
Last but not least, short YouTube videos will be posted featuring several individuals who share stories about their experiences growing up, living, or working in Philadelphia. Check out the video of Pedro Ospina below.
